We are excited you are interested in the European Hub of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN)! We are delighted to have you join our dynamic network dedicated to promoting and advancing the Rights of Nature movement across Europe.
The European Hub emerged following the transformative Conference on the Rights of the Earth held in Sweden in 2019. We are a vibrant European network comprising organizations and individuals from over a dozen countries, from the UK and Netherlands in the West to Serbia in the Southeast. Our mission is to foster collaboration and implement impactful projects that resonate with the growing momentum of the Rights of Nature movement in our biodiverse and beautiful region.
The Rights of Nature movement in Europe is thriving, with a surge in local, regional, and high-level initiatives advocating for the recognition of ecosystem rights. From Charters for Rivers to EU-level political actions, we are witnessing a shift in consciousness towards a regenerative relationship between humans and nature. Notably, Europe celebrated its first legal victory for the recognition of personhood rights for the Spanish Mar Menor—an inspiring milestone setting a precedent for future endeavors.
As members of the European Hub, we convene regularly to coordinate projects and mobilize efforts through working groups. Our collective aim is to drive change, raise awareness, and establish legal frameworks that honor the Rights of Nature across the continent.
We invite you to immerse yourself in our hub's activities by participating in discussions, collaborating on projects, sharing your expertise with fellow members, and join our
WhatsApp community.
You can follow us on social media and explore our website for valuable resources and information. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have any enquiries. We are here to support and collaborate with you as we collectively advance the cause of Mother Earth's rights.
